The farm - 300 stunning acres overlooking Byron Bay
Byron Bay Farmstay is located on a beautiful 300-acre farm on the escarpment overlooking Byron Bay, on the north coast of N.S.W. The farm offers incredible views of the Northern Rivers coastline, Mt Warning, and the Byron hinterland. The property is situated on Hayters Hill: half-way between Byron Bay and historic Bangalow village.
Hayters Hill was first settled by JJ Hayter in 1881, and has been in the Hayter family ever since. Today, the property is primarily used for cattle grazing, cottage accommodation and rainforest conservation.
Enjoy total tranquillity on this spectacular farm
This property is unique as it contains heritage-listed rainforest that is home to a diverse community of plants and wildlife. There is outstanding birdsong throughout the day – with over 70 different bird species inhabiting the rainforest gullies and groves on the property. The extent of rainforest has more than doubled over the past 20 years; due to large-scale regeneration efforts throughout this time, plus establishing a native cabinet timber plantation. All family members living on the farm are passionate about conserving this special natural environment.
A magnificent lake and meandering waterways on the property are part of the headwaters of Byron Creek which eventually flows through historic Bangalow village. These waterways provide important habitat for water birds, frogs and a resident platypus.
